Must Know Mondays . . . on a Wednesday

When I have a long weekend it always takes me a bit longer to get into my week. Add in a long weekend away for a family wedding and it takes me even longer to get with it. Hence, why I’m posting Must Know Monday on a Wednesday. Here are a few articles that got my attention . . .

“To win without risk is a triumph without Glory.” – Cornielle

If you’re a feminist . . . Vogue has a great list of seven things women do not have to do just because a man asks them to. Obviously there are a lot more than seven, but this is a great start to a conversation we all need to be having: who made man the boss?

If you’re a fitness fanatic and maybe need a little inspiration on this Wednesday . . . I know I’m late to the party with the VMAs but I’m obsessed over how amazing Britney Spears looked rocking that stage. Buzzfeed proves how the mother of two has made the ultimate comeback. This convinces me that if Britney can get through 2007, I can get my butt to The Bar Method every morning.

If you believe in equal pay for equal work . . . There are workshops taking place in Boston focused on educating women on how to negotiate their salary. The only question is whether the lessons gained in these workshops will actually be put to good use and yield results.

If you’re a 90s goth girl geek like me . . . When I was really young most of my friends were into Saved by the Bell and Full House. I was into Beetlejuice. Even though it came out when I was a baby, I would watch it every time it was on TV. It introduced me to one of my favorite actors and biggest crushes, Winona Ryder. I feel that other than a few small film rolls and some voiceover work, the world has been sadly without a healthy dose of everyone’s dream goth girl for way too long. Now Ryder is back with Stranger Things (if you haven’t seen it yet, where the heck have you been?!). She spoke with The Cut about the addictive Netflix series, which has just been renewed for season 2, as well as what she’s been up to over the past few years.

If you love fashion . . . This show is being called the next Mad Men. The Collection shows how couture saved the economy of post war France. The article also explains how long hems became controversial in the late 40s.

If you have a case of wanderlust . . . Though I have to admit I have not tried it yet, Google’s newest function, Destinations, looks like it’s going to be a big help to those who don’t enjoy the travel planning process. While planning and researching exotic locales and the best time to go is half the fun for me, it might make life a lot easier.

Final thoughts:

Monday Mantra: “A vaincre sans péril, on triomphe sans gloire,” or “To win without risk is a triumph without glory.” – Cornielle

Song of the Week: HandClap” by Fitz and the Tantrums . . . Though I don’t like to think that summer is over until I start wearing my heavy coats, kids are back in school so I guess that the unofficial end to summer has arrived. This was my “song of summer” so it’s helping me hold onto those last rays of sunshine.

What I’m Reading: Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Ann Fowler . . . yes, again. I wish I had more time to read but right now I am making a rather big transition which I’ll share with you all soon!

What I’m Craving: I’m a pescetarian, not vegan, but these Vegan Caribbean Quinoa Tacos from Two Raspberries look incredible! I’d add some grilled shrimp and bon appétit!
