It’s that time of the year – the time to show your mama, or maternal figure, how much they mean to you. But the last thing mom wants is for you to break the bank. If you can afford to send her on an all-expense paid trip to Europe, I’m sure she would love that. I wish I could do that. But not all of us have that kind of cash to spend no matter how much we love our moms.
So here are a few ideas at different price points to fit anyone’s budget, so you can spoil your mom …
When we were little, my sister and I would ask our mom around every holiday what she wanted, and we would always get the same answer: a nap. Well, now that we’re older, we do give her more time to chill out but this year I’m giving her something else that will help her relax – an acupuncture session. It’s something she’s wanted to try for a while and I got a great deal on Groupon. But if your mom needs some alone time and isn’t into the idea of becoming a human pin cushion, a gift card for a facial or a massage is also a great option and can cost anywhere from $50 to $500 depending on where you go. A mani-pedi is also a classic gift as well as a gift certificate to her favorite restaurant or even the new place she’s been dying to try. These gifts might seem overdone but that’s because they are always a crowd-pleaser.
If, like my mom, your mom loves to travel, this Sofia Cashmere Portofino Traveling Set is a great way for her to stay warm and comfy during her long flights or car rides. Jet Set Candy Travel Charms are an adorable way to show off her love of her favorite foreign city. On the more practical side, Le Pliage Tote from Longchamp is my favorite carry-on bag. I don’t go anywhere without it! And, as I said before, if you can afford to send your mom on a luxurious trip abroad – why not?
2017 has brought about a whole lot of girl power between the Women’s March and other female-centered demonstrations. If your mom is focused on supporting other women, why not give her something to further her cause? She’ll look stunning in Rachel Zoe’s Suzette Lace Mini Dress. Accessorize it with either Erica Weiner’s Love Token “Mama” necklace or Catbird’s Holding Hands Necklace (100% of proceeds will fund The Adventure Project’s community health program in Kenya and Uganda to train women who are leaders in their communities to be Community Health Providers) and she’s ready for a night out on the town. On her day off, she can pair Otherwild’s “The Future is Female” tee with her favorite jeans. All the while she’s showing off her support for women in this crazy world.
My mom also inspired this collection because she loves everything pink. If your mom is like mine, she’ll just love checking the time on this Ted Baker London Leather Strap Watch, 40mm in Rose Gold/Pink. She’ll also look snazzy running errands in Marais’ Classic Mule in Rose Leather. But before she takes off in the morning, her coffee will look super cute in this Coffee Lover Mug that you can find at Urban Outfitters for just $12.
Fitness and wellness has become the latest fad. And if anyone should be health-concerned, it should be mom. But because she’s so busy working and taking care of the family, she probably rarely has time to take care of herself. So why not give her the chance to focus on her health this Mother’s Day? You can do this in so many ways. She might appreciate you paying for a month of membership to her favorite boutique fitness studio or gym, or if money is no problem, send her on a Wellness Retreat. She also might love showing off the Fitbit Flex 2 Rose Gold Bracelet at her next spin class. Or if she is always on the road, this eKO® SuperLite Travel Yoga Mat will allow her to get her om on wherever she goes!
These are just a few options for Mother’s Day, but the most important thing is that your mom feels appreciated on her day. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without the strong woman that my mother is – Love you Mama!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
P.S. Though written from a daughter’s point of view, these suggestions would also work for significant others!
