The day after any holiday is always daunting. You’re coming off the high of being with friends and family, celebrating love. And then you have to head back into work the next day. Or it’s back to cleaning the house and running errands. Whatever you do, it’s definitely a “back to reality” feeling. And if that day after a holiday happens to be a Monday, it’s even more daunting because you still have the rest of the week ahead of you.
But as I’m trying to get rid of negativity in my life, including my own proclivity to the Monday Blues, I’m using today and every day as a fresh start. I’m lucky to have grown up with a mother who allowed us to dream and be anything we wanted to be. But the world still seems to saddle you with expectations, whether your family’s or your own.
So today, take this Monday after Mother’s Day to focus on what you want out of life. Just like Emma Watson says: decide who you want to be. Don’t let anyone else decide that for you.
